Addressing Transportation Barriers with Expanded Programming
As BSW jumps into the 2026–27 school year, we are excited to introduce our brand-new 5-Day Program! This expanded programming was created to help address transportation barriers that can make it difficult for some students and families to participate in BSW.
For students who take the yellow school bus, families can select only one drop-off location after school: either home or BSW. This means that families who choose home as their drop-off location must then find another way to bring their child to BSW for programming and return again for pick-up at the end of the day. For some families, this additional transportation can be challenging and may even prevent interested students from participating.
Our new 5-Day Program helps address this barrier by giving participating students the option to come directly to BSW five days a week. Three of those days are spent in music lessons, while the other two focus on non-music programming. Students take part in games and activities that support their social-emotional development while spending more time building relationships with their peers and the BSW community.
This year, students are also working on a special BSW scrapbook where they can document their experiences and favorite memories throughout the year. We can’t wait to see what they create and share some of their memories with you!
